SIPS Panels Redevelopment of Former Stable Block
SIPS@Clays LLP first contacted the Kingdom’s back in October 2004 in response to a lead passed on to us from Kingspan. We were then sent drawings for quotation in February 2005 and received an order for the TEK Building System in April. We delivered and fitted the panels in June.

The Background
The former Grade 2 Listed stable building was in a derelict condition and in need of restoration/complete demolition. The building was constructed of 2 ¼” bricks and lime mortar as well as having a clay pantile roof. The planning authoritygranted planning consent and listed building consent for the dismantling of the existing building and for a new building in its place on the basis that the old bricks were used with a hydraulic lime mortar, the original pantiles were re-laid, cast iron gutters and Yorkshire sliding sash windows were installed. The building had to be replaced using the same footprint and same height as the original building On the side of the original stable block there was a lean to building which the planners agreed could also be dismantled but in its place could be a building with a lower pitched roof (which would house the new kitchen).
The Build
John and Liz live in the adjoining property and so were ideally suited to manage the entire project although with John having a full time job and Liz being pregnant throughout the build this was never going to be straightforward! To keep the costs down John and Liz did a large amount of the build themselves using specialist tradesmen where appropriate (For example John & a friend from across the road cleaned up all the bricks ready for re-use.)
Why SIP Construction?
1. Costs/Ease of use - Allowed John to do all the drawings himself to obtain planning, listed building and building regulations approval.
