The Background

Mulgrave Sports association was formed to provide a multipurpose sports facility for the area, providing a home for Goldsborough F.C , Mulgrave Cricket Club and bowling club. Stuart Duckett the architect has designed an energy efficient and environmentally friendly building, incorporating a ground source heat pump to provider space heating and hot water, also photovoltaic panels to provide electricity as well as a rain water harvesting system. Structurally insulated panels ideally compliment the other eco-friendly features, with there high insulation and low air leakage vastly reducing the energy required to heat the building. Stuart also commented that the sports association received a grant from the Football Foundation, who wouldn’t normally give donations for timber buildings, but they were so impressed with the strength and robustness of the SIPS Panels that a grant was forth coming.

The Build

Newton Builders were the main contractors for the contract, the work being supervised by John Newton.

Why SIP Construction?

1. Speed of built, low “U” values, low air leakage, also enabled the sports association to receive grants against a timber building. 2. Speed of build - yes 3. Running Costs - yes
