Energy Efficient SIPS Detached House, Fangfoss
Richard is aware of the changes that are going to occur in the building trade as we head towards lower and eventually zero carbon homes. For his own home Richard chose to build with SIPS panels to reap the benefits that they offer, but also to use this as a trial development with the future intention of using SIPS on all his projects.

Why SIP Construction?
Richard, an experienced developer by profession, estimates that if he were to build the house using traditional methods it would take approximately seven months. Using SIPS will cut the program by three months. This is achievable because SIPS have provided a complete watertight build in only thirteen days. So Richard can organise his follow on trades to work inside and outside at the same time. Richard was also able to order materials such as windows with confidence, knowing that the sizes would be as the drawings he had approved prior to factory production. Richard commented “he was highly delighted with the speed of build and the user-friendly nature of SIPS panels, the planning during the design stage makes the actual building work on site far easier.
