Eco Community Centre, Kilmacolm

The contract involved supplying SIPs roof panels that were to fit onto a glulam frame erected by the main contractor. Ogilvie approached two local suppliers who were not prepared to undertake the contract due to the complications involved in cutting the panels and ensuring that the cut panels fit accurately onto the glulam frame, this being practically important along the valleys. Working along side the timber engineers, Donalson & McConnell, who provided the glulam frame and three sets of CAD drawings later all parties were happy with the final dimensions. The painstaking work up front, double checking dimensions to confirm the glulam frame position coincided with the joints in the SIPs panels paid off and the erection, once underway, could not have proved simpler.
